🥄 Ingredient Notes
- Oreo cookies - Use regular, double stuff, or Halloween-themed orange Oreos.
- Rope black licorice - Can be found in the candy aisle or purchased online
- Candy eyes - Usually found in the baking aisle or can be purchased online
- White icing - Any type of white icing/frosting will work.
- Candy corn - Cut the candy "fangs" to your preferred size. I like to have a little bit of orange showing, for a black & orange look to my cookies.
📝 Variations & Substitutions
- Make gluten-free spider Oreos: Use a gluten-free brand of licorice (some contain wheat flour) and gluten-free Oreos.
- Pretzel rods. Not a fan of black licorice? No problem. Use pretzel sticks to make spider legs in place of licorice.
- Flavored Oreos. Use any variety/flavor of Oreo cookie, depending on your desired aesthetic.
- M&M's. Use mini m&m's to make eyes in place of candy eyes for more colorful spiders.
🔪 How To Make Oreo Spider Cookies
Place parchment paper on a baking sheet. Gently pull apart Oreos and place on baking sheet.
Cut the black licorice into 2-inch pieces. You will need 8 per cookie, so 128 total.
Place 4 pieces of cut licorice on each side of the cookie with filling. Place a dime-size of icing on the inside of the matching cookie top (the one without filling). Place top back onto cookie with licorice legs.
Use a toothpick to place a pea-size of icing on the back of candy eyes and place two on top of each cookie to create the eyes of your cookie spiders.
Cut candy corn just above where the white part ends (I like to have a little bit of orange showing for a black & orange look). Insert the candy corn tips into the front portion of cookie filling, between the two sets of legs, creating spider fangs.
