The best way to reheat cornbread is in a 350°F oven, covered with foil, for 10-15 minutes. The key is preventing additional moisture loss, so gentle heat and a covered baking dish give you a warm, tender center without drying out the edges. For one slice, the microwave is fastest; for crisp edges, use a buttered skillet or air fryer.
These methods work for most homemade cornbread, including my easy sourdough cornbread.
Reheated cornbread is especially good alongside my easy vegetarian chili or southwest black bean chili.

The Best Way to Reheat Cornbread
For the best overall texture, reheat cornbread in the oven. Preheat the oven to 350°F, place the cornbread in a baking dish, and cover with foil. Heat for 10-15 minutes, depending on the size and thickness of the pieces. If the cornbread is dry, brush it lightly with melted butter or sprinkle it with a few drops of water before covering.
How to reheat Cornbread: 5 methods

In the Oven
Place cornbread in a baking dish and cover with foil. Reheat at 350°F for 10-15 minutes, until warmed through. For a slightly crisp top, remove the foil for the final 2-3 minutes.
In the Microwave
Place one slice on a microwave-safe plate and cover with a damp paper towel. Microwave for 15-20 seconds, then continue in 10-second intervals if needed. Avoid overheating, which can make cornbread dry or tough.
in a skillet
Melt a small amount of butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the cornbread and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until warmed through and lightly crisp.
In a Toaster Oven
For one or two pieces, reheat cornbread at 350°F for about 5-8 minutes. Cover with foil for softer cornbread or leave it uncovered if you prefer toasted edges.
In an Air Fryer
Arrange slices in a single layer and air fry at 325°F for 3-5 minutes, checking early to prevent them from drying out. A little melted butter helps protect particularly dry cornbread.
How to Reheat Frozen Cornbread

For the most even results, thaw frozen cornbread overnight in the refrigerator and reheat using one of the methods above. You can also reheat slices directly from frozen: wrap them in foil and warm in a 350°F oven for about 15-20 minutes, checking smaller pieces sooner.
How to Store Leftover Cornbread
Let cornbread cool completely before storing it in an airtight container. Keep it at room temperature for 1-2 days for the best texture, or refrigerate it for longer storage, keeping in mind that refrigeration can make cornbread dry out faster. For longer storage, freeze individual slices tightly wrapped for up to 3 months.
