Equipment

  • large pitcher

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 large cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 (2-inch piece) fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 8 cups water

Instructions

  • Place sliced lemon, cucumber, and ginger in a large pitcher and add 8 cups of cold water (or distribute evenly among 8 glasses).
  • Let the water sit at room temperature for about 1 hour to let the flavor develop. Serve with or without ice cubes.

Notes

  • Storage: Keep chilled in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Make it last longer: Strain water after 12 hours to remove lemon, cucumber, and ginger, and store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. This prevents the lemon from developing a bitter taste.
  • Infuse at room temperature. Be sure to let the flavors marinate at room temperature for around 1 hour before serving/chilling. This allows the flavors to really develop.
  • Make it by the glass. Place 2 slices of lemon, 2 slices of ginger, and 2 slices of cucumber into a mason jar or large glass. Fill with cold water and let it sit at room temperature for 1 hour.
