Ingredients

  • 4 medium avocados, ripe
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 limes, juiced (about 2 Tablespoons)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Into a medium-sized bowl, add the minced garlic, lime juice, and salt. Stir to combine.
  • Cut your avocados lengthwise and remove the pits. Use a spoon to scoop the flesh into the bowl. Mash the avocado with a fork until you have a creamy consistency (leave some larger pieces for a chunkier texture if you prefer). Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  • Serve immediately as a dip with tortilla chips or sliced vegetables, or add it to your favorite Mexican dish for extra creaminess. To keep your guacamole green, store any leftover dip by placing a piece of plastic wrap on top of guacamole so that it's flush and no air bubbles remain. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Notes

  • Storage: Place a piece of plastic wrap on top of guacamole so that its flush and no air bubbles remain. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • How to freeze: This simple guac recipe freezes very well due to its low water content (no tomato or onion). Transfer avocado dip into an airtight freezer bag and place in the freezer for up to 3 months. To thaw, place in the fridge overnight or on the kitchen counter for 2-3 hours.
  • Choose your preferred texture: You can make it chunkier or smoother - there's no wrong way to do it texture-wise!
  • Make in advance: Evenly spread your prepared guac into a shallow bowl or serving dish. To keep your guacamole green, cover the surface with a thin layer of lemon or lime juice, then place a piece of plastic wrap on top, pressing it flush with the guacamole so there are no air bubbles. Store in the fridge for up to 24 hours in advance. When ready to serve, pour off the liquid, and enjoy!
