Ingredients

  • leftover salmon
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil, lemon juice, or water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Place salmon onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • To prevent them from drying out, you can add 1 teaspoon of butter, olive oil, lemon juice, or water to the tops of the fillets.
  • Cover loosely with foil, or wrap each fillet completely in foil.
  • Reheat for 15 minutes, until heated through or until it reaches an internal temperature of 125 to 130 degrees F. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Go low and slow. When reheating salmon, the best advice is to aim for a lower temperature over a longer period of time to prevent drying it out.
  • Cover it. Whether you're using foil, plastic wrap, or a microwave-safe lid, always cover your salmon when reheating to keep it as moist as possible.
  • Eat it cold. Skip the reheating altogether, and repurpose your cold salmon by adding it to a salad, grain bowl, eggs, or even tossing it into a bowl of cold noodles.
  • Avoid the microwave if possible. Because it uses a very high heat, the microwave will dry out your leftover salmon more than any other method described here. But if it's the only option available, be sure to follow my instructions for the best results.
